What makes an expert ?

After our successful launch of the Raw Food Barefoot Adventure weekend Sonya and I had time to reflect on all that led up to the decision to hold such an event.

We had all the human frailties going on in our consciousness of fear and judgment, but I realized that I didn’t have to be an “expert,”  it’s just a concept that has been made up and then given a status that is flawed at its best.

All we had to do was share what we know.  We did not have to be 100% right, possess flawless enunciation of words, or be perfect presenters.

Topic of the week

What is an Expert?

Expert is taken to have a meaning of being proficient and knowledgeable about a certain topic.

It doesn’t mean you have to know everything. If you’re teaching something advanced, then you may need to know a bit more, but you will never know everything.

Some of the synonyms for expert are: Skilled, Trained, Adept, nowhere does it say infallible or all knowing.

I realized that I did have something to say. Just because I could have the thoughts I had nothing to teach people didn’t make it true.

None of my doubts were as important as the realization that what I had in my own life had helped me. It was based in good science, been experientially lived and shown to be effective.

There’s a reason you feel driven to do what you feel you must do.

It’s only a thought that stops you from starting.

What if you stopped trying to second guess an outcome and simply took action, could you make a difference if you simply shared what you knew.

Take action and see what happens, for us it was to put on our

Raw Food Barefoot Adventure weekend

If you are passionate about what you want to share, the results will always be a learning.

At first it may not go as you would have imagined.

Being that you are excited and passionate about your “thing”, you will get to understand it’s all part of a learning curve for what you were meant to do.

Part of my early development in understanding thoughts and beliefs was from  Gregory Neville  in his book “Effective Counseling” there I read material that had great impact on me.

Understanding that we are here to have an influence upon the lives of people who need to encounter us and we are  not individually the center of the universe.

By my decision to do, I am at the right place for my personal growth to occur, not by any willpower of mine, but just by acting within the factors that exist in the universe; we have not caused the events that we encounter in our life but rather these events are the result of other factors in the universe making sure that we encounter the situation we need to grow.

We are so very grateful to all participants of the weekend for your decision to attend.  Sonya’s meals were such a hit there is already another uncooking event on the calendar before our next planned event in June

Barefoot Raw Minimalist Lifestyle

Today my Co- host and I get back in the chairs to chat more about  our Barefoot Raw Minimalist Lifestyle, a topic that keeps coming up for us lately is the question ” How do you run without support ” we chat on the subject giving you our perspective.

The science tells you, muscle, ligament components of the body atrophy if not used, the foot is a wonder of  bio engineering that deserve more attention than being strapped into shoes that are touted to fix us as the broken runners, the marketing messages spruke to us.

The Barefoot Raw Minimalist Lifestyle, is asking you to examine what you are accepting as truth from the system as it applies to your life.

I often state going barefoot is not only about what you take off, there is the shift to an awareness that you can put on, opening up your life to possibilities and ways to examine issues or circumstances in your life that you  may not have had an insight into.

With the awareness of the components of the REM Lifestyle design you are able to apply yourself to the present moment of your life, sustainable nutritional choices, mindfulness and exercise will lift you to an energetic relationship with yourself and the world around you.

The result is the state of equanimity that is the gift of the union of physical senses and spiritual harmony.

Vegan Nutrition For Athletes

Play

As a runner and endurance athlete my nutritional needs are different from a body builder.

The principles of plant-based Vegan Nutrition For Athletes are still the underlying reason in Robert Cheeke’s nutrition. I grabbed an excerpt of an interview I heard with him talking about Why he was a vegan and the reason athletes when they start with a plant-based regime ultimately fail and give it away as something that did not work.

Have a look at the forum www.veganbodybuilding.com/phpBB2/  if you want more information.

Robert Cheeke vegan body builder

Robert rightly states you have to do it right which is the same as when you start with natural form running you have to get it right and realize things will be different and adjustments will be made as you go along.

Rat lung Worm Survival

What is rat lung worm?

Rat lung worm or Angiostrongylus catonensis is a parasite that mainly lives in rodents such as rats and can infect snails and slugs that come into contact with infected rat faeces. People can be infected when they eat an infected snail or slug.

How is it treated?

Most people with symptoms recover fully without treatment over days, weeks or months. However in my case the infection caused severe meningitis that required specialist treatment. The infection is occasionally fatal. There is no vaccine and no preventative treatment is recommended for exposed people.

It took nearaly 10 years to be well again from the rat lung worm infestation I had.

Being a barefoot runner can be seen as an un-normal way of doing things, but what if you are barefoot runner and a raw food enthusiast at the same time.

Perhaps that means you are away out left barefoot hippie, but what if a trained journalists with a penchant for getting to the facts and figures hails this way of life and lives it would that give it any more credibility.it’sRaw food

Barefoot Ted Born to Run

Play

A Barefoot runner is seen to be an oddity amongst a sea of motion controlled expensive footwear. The reality is that we were born to run and to run without the technology to stop us from “injuring” ourselves. The need for shoes in a work place environment has obviously to be taken into consideration, but the need to strap our feet into the latest footwear from the Nike sweatshop factory to be able to go out for a run is very far from the truth.

I have used an interview with a pioneer of the barefoot lifestyle Barefoot ted from the

Advendure Edge Radio Podcast

as he talks about the book BORN TO RUN by Christopher McDougall.  It is a good read and sets out to show how we evolved to be efficient long distance runners.
