Is a raw diet optimal
My question is, where is the evidence for this extraordinary claim? Is a raw diet optimal this claim is constantly repeated by the raw foodism movement but I have never seen anyone provide 100% scientific evidence that would substantiate the claim.

I thought I would mention a product I thought looked interesting especially for a wet condition use. Being a keen Kayak enthusiast there is more than one occasion I have wanted some sort of footwear that could cope with sharp rocks, barnacle type of condition.

The fabric is a custom blend of an odor-free, moisture wicking lining The outer layer of the fabric is also breathable, and has great abrasion resistance.
I have not used them as they are just out so no review opportunity but they look like they could be useful as a minimalist choice.

Topic of the week
For me the whole discussion started with and involves several raw foodist guru people and their disciples claiming that a raw diet is optimal and the claims, raw foods also avoid the toxins you get from cooked foods, forgetting that certain raw foods also have a toxic level.
I am not in any argument that it is optimal to include as a prefered choice raw plant based foods and a substantial amount of fresh fruit in the diet,
but there is no reason or evidence that exclusive raw foodism is optimum for humans
My question is, where is the evidence for this extraordinary claim? The claim is constantly repeated by the raw foodism advocates but I have never seen anyone provide evidence that would substantiate the claim that it is the optimal diet.
Now before you get to thinking that I do not believe that a raw food lifestyle
is not an optimal design what I am saying is, I don’t think raw foodism
as a scientific ideal is 100% provable.
But that is not what A raw food lifestyle i
If you want to live on fruit, go ahead and try it, but i do not think you can make the definitive claim that it is the optimal diet, for all humans in every circumstance.
There is plenty of evidence that people living on raw diets have better health and longevity, though I have yet to see it as a 100% scientific result, that it is so superior than to people who live on whole foods plant based diets that include some cooked foods.
In fact there is evidence is that present day humans NEED
to use some cooked food in certain circumstances to thrive because of poor availability and quality of produce, due to depleted soils
Biological definition of frugivore
Science tells us that humans have a genetic legacy as specialized frugivores, the biological definition of frugivore, i.e. an animal that specializes in eating botanical fruits, which include legumes, seeds of grasses (grains), nuts, and seeds.
There is a lot of research into the ” theory ” of the evolutionary path of our ancestors utilizing tubers available to them as a food resource.
These are a non-fruit plant food but they have a nutritional profile practically the same as fruits. Hence, they are an easy transition in evolutionary terms.
A fruit-eater doesn’t need any radically new digestive equipment to move from specializing in fruit to concentrating on tubers.
Indeed if the theory is to be taken as gospel truth that our ancestors only ate sweet juicy fruits plucked from a tree, would put human ancestors subsisting primarily on fruit in direct conflict with chimpanzees.
Living on the modern fruits is difficult enough — that’s why almost no one achieves it, that’s why raw foodism
ideology sees people end up eating ” sneaked “cooked food or doing “raw till 4” or having a ‘back up plan’ or seeking “super foods” or eating a lot of fat.
The outcome I see of this are people who give up the idea of raw food nutrition and slide into bad habits through ” guilt” and ” failure” of not being able to conform to the expected 100% Raw Foodism Ideal.
Sure, anyone who is dedicated enough and wants to ‘prove’ that raw foodism
is the best Ideology, can find a way to chow down the amount of modern soft fruit required to meet caloric and sugar requirements.
Using a blender to make high calorie smoothies is not an evolutionary leap forward, though it is a tool to avail yourself of the positive elements of a raw food lifestyle.
The cooked food / raw foodism argument is dependant on a few issues and what you are you are comparing it to.
Per calorie, dates have a similar nutritional profile to rice.
Bananas are fairly similar to potatoes.
Papaya has more vitamins per calorie than sweet potatoes.
In a modern world sweet potatoes are both affordable, widely available and contain a substantial amount of both micro-nutrition and calories, they still need to be cooked lightly but are a far better choice than french fries.
I am not advocating for one moment that 100% raw foodism is the “optimal” ideology to live your your life by, or am I decrying the ethos of !00% raw food selection
What I am emphatically endorsing is understanding a balanced Raw food lifestyle that has all the positive elements you get, from eliminating highly processed, foods from your diet, applying exercise and mindfulness through understanding the REM lifestyle design.
