Another great reason to drink more coconut milk

5 Reasons to Drink More Coconut Milk

Getting cows milk out of your diet is a sensible thing to do for a lot of reasons so what is an alternative.

Coconut milk is a type of creamy liquid that can be extracted from mature coconuts. It is often used in tropical mixed drinks, as well as being an alternative to cow’s milk, goat’s milk or soy milk. Coconut milk is very nutritious and can help you in numerous ways. It is very nutritious with vitamins and minerals like protein, manganese, copper, iron, potassium, and magnesium. Consider these five reasons for drinking more coconut milk on a regular basis.

It Helps Your Immune System

If you are someone that gets a lot of colds, flus, and other infections, you probably have a weakened immune system. Some people have immune system issues due to diseases like autoimmune disorders, while others simply need to add more nutrition to their diet. Coconut milk contains multiple nutrients that can help boost your immune system, including capric acid, antimicrobial liquids, and lauric acid. You can start fighting bacteria and viruses by drinking a glass of coconut milk every day.

You Can Protect Against Heart Disease

Heart disease is one of the major killers of Americans, especially women. Unfortunately, it is also one that doesn’t have a lot of symptoms before it’s too late. By eating and drinking nutritious foods and drinks, you can protect yourself from heart disease and hopefully avoid a heart attack or other cardiac event. Coconut milk is one way to do this, due to its fatty acids. These are medium-chain acids that will kill organisms found in your arteries, which lead to heart disease. This is one of many reasons to start drinking it regularly.

Your Weight Loss Efforts Are Improved

Coconut milk might be a bit higher in fat than other types of drinks, but it can also help burn fat. If you are trying to lose weight, you want to work on building muscle, which will then help to burn more fat. You can do this by getting some of those handy triglyceride fatty acids in coconut milk. These will help to increase the energy in your body, which can then provide nutrients to your muscles. With better muscle mass, you are growing stronger, burning fat, and feeling more energized. It is an excellent way to improve your weight loss efforts.

Coconut Milk Contains Electrolytes

Another great reason to drink more coconut milk is because it is an excellent source of electrolytes. These vitamins and minerals will keep you hydrated when you are suffering from the flu or other illness, have diarrhea, or spending a lot of time outside in hot weather. It can also help if you are planning on exercising more than normal, which requires more electrolytes. Dehydration can be very serious and should not be messed with under any circumstances.

You Can Improve Your Hair and Skin

You might have already known that coconut oil, when applied to your hair and skin, makes it soft and healthy. This is also true when you drink coconut milk on a regular basis. The nutrients in coconut milk can condition your skin to help with cracking and keep it silky smooth. Your hair becomes less brittle and more manageable.
Try a glass of coconut milk in the morning with your bowl of oatmeal for a healthy breakfast, or enjoy the milk in the afternoons with your snack of fresh fruit and yogurt.

Topic of the week
==================
For me the whole discussion started with and involves several raw foodist guru people and their disciples claiming that a raw diet is optimal and the claims, raw foods also avoid the toxins you get from cooked foods, forgetting that certain raw foods also have a toxic level.

I am not in any argument that it is optimal to include as a prefered choice raw plant based foods and a substantial amount of fresh fruit in the diet, but there is no reason or evidence that exclusive raw foodism is optimum for humans

My question is, where is the  evidence for this extraordinary claim? The claim is constantly repeated by the raw foodism advocates but I have never seen anyone provide evidence that would substantiate the claim that it is the  optimal diet.

Now before you get to thinking that I do not believe that a raw food lifestyle is not an optimal design what I am saying is, I don’t think raw foodism as a scientific ideal is 100% provable.

But that is not what A raw food lifestyle is about.

If you want to live on fruit, go ahead and try it, but i do not think you can make the definitive claim that it is the optimal diet, for all humans in every circumstance.

There is plenty of evidence that people living on raw diets have better health and longevity, though I have yet to see it as a 100% scientific result, that it is so superior than to people who live on whole foods plant based diets that include some cooked foods.

In fact there is evidence is that present day humans NEED to use some cooked food in certain circumstances to thrive because of poor availability and quality of produce, due to depleted soils

Biological definition of frugivore

Science tells us that humans have a genetic legacy as specialized frugivores, the biological definition of frugivore, i.e. an animal that specializes in eating botanical fruits, which include legumes, seeds of grasses (grains), nuts, and seeds.

There is a lot of research into the ” theory ” of the evolutionary path of our ancestors utilizing tubers available to them as a food resource.

These are a non-fruit plant food but they have a nutritional profile practically the same as fruits. Hence, they are an easy transition in evolutionary terms.

A fruit-eater doesn’t need any radically new digestive equipment to move from specializing in fruit to concentrating on tubers.

Indeed if the theory is to be taken as gospel truth that our ancestors only ate sweet juicy fruits plucked from a tree, would put human ancestors subsisting primarily on fruit in direct conflict with chimpanzees.

Living on the modern fruits is difficult enough — that’s why almost no one achieves it, that’s why raw foodism ideology sees people end up eating ” sneaked “cooked food or doing “raw till 4” or having a ‘back up plan’ or seeking “super foods” or eating a lot of fat.

The outcome I see of this are people who give up the idea of raw food nutrition and slide into bad habits through ” guilt” and ” failure” of not being able to conform to the expected 100% Raw Foodism Ideal.

Sure, anyone who is dedicated enough and wants to ‘prove’ that raw foodism is the best Ideology, can find a way to chow down the amount of modern soft fruit required to meet caloric and sugar requirements.

Using a blender to make high calorie smoothies is not an evolutionary leap forward, though it is a tool to avail yourself of the positive elements of a raw food lifestyle.

The cooked food / raw foodism  argument is dependant on a few issues and what you are you are comparing it to.

Per calorie, dates have a similar nutritional profile to rice.

Bananas are fairly similar to potatoes.

Papaya has more vitamins per calorie than sweet potatoes.

In a modern world sweet potatoes are both affordable, widely available and contain a substantial amount of both micro-nutrition and calories, they still need to be cooked lightly but are a far better choice than french fries.

I am not advocating for one moment that 100% raw foodism is the “optimal” ideology to live your your life by, or am I decrying the ethos of  !00% raw food selection

What I am emphatically endorsing is understanding a balanced Raw food lifestyle that has all the positive elements you get, from eliminating highly processed,  foods from your diet, applying exercise and mindfulness through understanding the REM lifestyle design.

Does selling need to be sexy

This question may not seem to have a lot to do with Raw foods, Barefoot running or mindfulness but it does.

When telling some body they need to change their lifestyle, by getting up early for exercise, stop eating comfort food, get more sleep, this discipline is not a sexy sell

In a recent magazine advert I saw a the lingerie model with long, tousled blonde hair and lips painted come-hither red. Her gaze is seductive as she shows off her breasts, saucily shrouded in a see-through bra.

This model is Jacky O’Shaughnessy, she is 62 years old — and the tagline for the underwear advertisement in question is:

                             ‘Sexy has no expiration date.’

For the company that hired her, American Apparel, the casting of Jacky for their Facebook promotion was a good call.

Everywhere you look there are women making the effort to prove ‘sexy has no expiration date’.

The question should be Why does the need to be sexy have anything to do with worth or value no matter what the age or gender

This a disturbing trend I see in certain elements of health especially in the raw food movement
raw food rotten worm
with one particular element  promoting thigh gap as a positive marker of following a 100% raw food diet

                                          …. what a load of….. BS

There is a fine line between appreciating and objectifying men and women, should we use sex to sell  health and awareness.

As with all things, there’s a time and a place for everything and it’s no different for using sex to sell.

Granted that in any environment clamoring for market attention, a product or service could benefit from adding a sexy element to an advertisement,

However, keeping the audience in mind is using sex to sell more about your audience than it is about the product or service.

If we ask , do different genders react to sexualized advertising? then it brings into focus, when speaking about a healthy diet ; what is the dynamic that encourages people to listen to the message of whole foods and a healthy way of life.

Is it the stud muffin shot of opportunists like the rawbrahs … yes that is a true internet name, it is a trio of  boys

selling six pack abs on a pseudo “raw Food ”  slick marketing platform with the tag of “redefining all health systems”

Or is it a scantily clad thigh gap, plastic enhanced girl like Freelee…again ..yes another internet name.. …  being held up

as the positive interpretation of a raw food healthy life style.

I actually have a lot of time for anybody who stands up for their beliefs such as Freelee  and are prepared to walk the walk and change the message when it becomes apparent change is needed to be addressed.

What I don’t agree on is the sexualizing and debasing of a message of health and vitality.

Please get a grip, we have a lizard or reptilian brain that responds to certain primal urges, food is one.

Sex and reproduction is definitely another.

This underlying, pre-programmed disposition to respond to sexual imagery is strong,  being  used for over 100 years in advertising.

Sex, no doubt about it, is a strong selling tool but it’s the wrong kind of attention, and won’t lead to long term acceptance or

realistic expectations, so generally truth and a realistic message ultimately lose out.

SO I would be more inclined to say Does selling need to be sexy is not true.

With all the aspects of a healthy life style in place, an increased sense of virility, sexuality and vibrancy can be a positive result at the end of the day.

The non sexy message is that to get to this result and to experience the benefit of your healthy lifestyle it comes at the cost of discipline, sweat, and mindfulness of your actions

not just from if the idea is seen as Sexy

5 tips on Frugal Raw Mindfulness

Know your budget

Being frugal means:

Caring about your money, and trying not to waste it like paying your bills late when you’d get a discount for using direct debit

buying in bulk foods when they’re on sale.

Use your local library instead of buying every single book new.

Cutting out things which are convenient but over priced IE. takeaways .

2. Understand Your Goals

It’s about valuing your money by translating it to life expenditure,  spend on the things which you really want.

You wouldn’t say “no” to having more money in the bank, without having to work extra

That’s what understanding frugality can bring you – even if you’re of a low income.

frugal is not desperate or poor

You earn hundreds of thousands, and still end up with financial problems if you’ve got no idea about how to control your
spending and what controls your impulse to spend.

“The way to wealth depends on just two words, industry and frugality.” (Benjamin Franklin) – 18th century

Being frugal isn’t some 21st century idea. It’s been known in many forms as a way to live a happy, rich life.

The conspiricist in me wants to shout out ” Beware..Beware ” about the consumer driven lifestyle that the modern western world wants you to believe is the accepted and best way to to lead a live full             of ” success and hapiness”

3  Expand your creativity.

Frugality Doesn’t Mean Being Cheap, not all of the motives that keep people from overspending are positive

Cheapness is different from frugality, Cheapness is when you have enough money but you still Buy shoddy, low-quality goods – that can cost you more in the long run.

Take time and refuse to spend money on things which you don’t really or think you “need” , take time to examine how else could you get it.

Take time to examine other ways to get what you want without just handing over your cash.

4 Reassess Progress

I know people who just can’t bear to spend their money on, anything at all. That’s not what I am talking about.

People who understand the idea of being frugal have a number of motives that help keep their spending under control.

Some people are forced to live pretty spare lives for a number of reasons, let your reason to be mindful of your income in, income out, be based around getting the best purchasing power for things that are important to your health and well being.

Being not tied to a consumer spending dictate, then you are not in any way being cheap, but you are allowing yourself  not  to get caught up in the accepted and consumer driven marketing messages that bombard us all.

Which, is why I find it so baffling that some people take this route of, takeaways, having the latest electronic gadget, buying  glossy magazines, purchasing fashion statements,  yes, how you spend your money is up to you, but when those decisions are governed by marketing dictates I don’t think it’s much of a choice.

After a short time you can quickly replace the sound of money fluttering away with the sound of ka.. ching money/ life energy saved.

5 Celebrate

For me the idea of going on ” holiday” does not have a great deal of appeal as a celebration, same as having an extravagant meal out once a month is not how I would celebrate.

I would more, buy one great quality item instead of three cheap versions, preferring to relish in the idea that I do not have to “work” just to feel as if I am swimming against the tide.

What ever it means to you to celebrate,  frugal living is about examining what you want out of your life, being mindful and resourceful enough to make it happen.

A couple dollars saved here, and a few dollars invested there will not lead to a life of deprivation; it can be a start for a platform that you can view greater possibilities from.

Tying the frugality message back in to the Raw food Barefoot podcast is the ethos of the REM life style design that encourages an uncomplicated simple raw food nutrition, understanding the energetics behind your actions and being mindful of the actions you take.

We take our message every where we go because it is what we live, are we rich “no”…….. do we have unlimited resources “no”…… by  being aware of what we have do we live a happy life ” yes “.

By being frugal and mindful are we contributing to the resistance against living a consumer marketing driven cash cow life I hope that is an obvious resounding ” YES “.

Social Implications Of A Raw Food Lifestyle

You may be thinking that it seems awkward to be only eating a raw food at family functions and the like, and yes it can be, but generally it is not you that is the one feeling awkward.

It is most likely the host as there are very emotional-ties to how we see the partaking of food.

This is an area I wish I could spend more time on and that is the emotionality to what we perceive as foods we need to feel satisfied with.

For most people the smell of a certain food is most likely to invoke a memory of some event that is either pleasant or unpleasant, to most, it is of a pleasant time.

The smell of a cooking B-B-Q brings back good times with family and friends perhaps, the taste of a chocolate ice cream when you and the love of your life strolled along the beach.

When in social gatherings I often get called on to defend the question of where do you get your calcium, with the assertion that to get the amount of iron you need I would have to consume kilos of Spinach and so on.

This comes up quite regularly when you are in a social circumstance,

Where as I can speak to the issues with authority and science. by far and away I will realize the question is not about a fear of not getting the correct dietary balance.

It is more so how people feel about being restricted to what at first would seem to be, a diet no longer full of the taste sensation they grew up with and the memories imprinted on the journey that is with them.

I am not one of the opinion that “cooked” food will kill you, there is enough debate and science to realize the 100% raw is not the benchmark of a healthy lifestyle.

If you feel you would benefit from reintroducing cooked items perhaps for social reasons or to stave off constant hunger, ( which can be more based on thoughts than actual nutrition needs) experiment with adding one food at a time.

The hidden cost of a desire to be social

The hidden cost of a desire to be social and to to not make people around you feel uncomfortable, has to be dealt with on your own personal level

Unfortunately  as a culture, we  are straying away from the basic understanding that fresh fruit and vegetables in our lifestyle are one of the most important element in a bodies ability to thrive.

The component of “convenience”  foods is steering us away from being cognizant of farming and consumer practices that are environmentally unsound and ethically questionable.

We continue to be swayed by the calls of multi national corporations to bundle every aspect of our lives into labels of convenience.

Less hassle, save time, instant, and all the other advertising material that beckons us to partake
in the unsustainable level of oil based farming that is offered.

Oil based farming inefficiencies, especially for grain, and cattle ,should be addressed as long term problems rather than short term gains for cheap and overused foods.

Possible results involved in staying with a thought process of dietary and energetic actions that have seen health and environmental decline all in the name of convenience, will continue to see the balance that needs to be reached for sustainable and healthy lifestyles erode even more.

It is all part of a system that you can choose not to encourage and bring to the attention of your social connections, by way of your mindfulness of the ramifications on our health and your deliberation to look at other choices.

Topic of the week

I wanted to say a few things relating about the last weeks topic of being the expert

It is always you find yourself in  a quandary when you find yourself researching a topic and you get opposite poles of points of view.

Each one claiming their correctness and viability of argument, and you have to find the element of “truth” to stand with.

It is not my intention here to tell you that we have the answers and everything we say is true and correct.

What I hope I can say is

“yeah I looked at that, and of the answers that I found this one worked for me “

It is far too easy to use an urban myth or a “truth” that has been around so long that it’s become a truth just by the fact it gets repeated so often.

What started me on this topic was conversation on alkaline foods for PH balance of your blood.

Foods don’t influence our blood pH as a singular element

There are certainly circumstances in which the blood is more acidic than it should be, and this does have serious health consequences.

However, you more likely find this state of acidosis is caused by pathological conditions such as chronic renal insufficiency.

I have seen enough information to feel pretty confident that your blood pH is hovering around a comfortable 7.4. by more inputs than whether you choose to eat a salad or a burger at a meal.

I am not a medical person and I do not diagnose anything or claim to have any great insight

What I do recognize is when information is being slanted to fit some message that the dispenser is trying to coerce you to believe, even if it may be with the best of intentions.

This Balance i see distorted with enzyme theory, the 100% rules, cooked food = death rants.

We are complex pieces of art put together in an organic compound with an energetic component that is as finely tuned to our environment as is a individual instrument in an orchestra.

Trying to explain it with an energetic structure that may make sense, I use the analogy of an orchestra playing a Symphony  together

If the third violin goes out most likely the player sitting next to him is going to pick up on it quickly and will subtly compensate,  reacting in some manner, but tuba player at the back is not going to know about it.

The compounding effect of the one instrument left untuned will eventually impact the tuba and the rest of the orchestra.

It would end up being an unholy racket of disharmonious waves of the energy/ vibration as one player tried to compensate with the other while still trying to play music creating an experience very different to a harmonious symphony sound.

This where balance and sensitivity come into play the more of your decisions that are made from a consciousness and sensitivity of the totality of what makes up life, the easier it is to find the balance needed to tune in to the symphony of your life as a beautiful sound.

What makes an expert ?

After our successful launch of the Raw Food Barefoot Adventure weekend Sonya and I had time to reflect on all that led up to the decision to hold such an event.

We had all the human frailties going on in our consciousness of fear and judgment, but I realized that I didn’t have to be an “expert,”  it’s just a concept that has been made up and then given a status that is flawed at its best.

All we had to do was share what we know.  We did not have to be 100% right, possess flawless enunciation of words, or be perfect presenters.

Topic of the week

What is an Expert?

Expert is taken to have a meaning of being proficient and knowledgeable about a certain topic.

It doesn’t mean you have to know everything. If you’re teaching something advanced, then you may need to know a bit more, but you will never know everything.

Some of the synonyms for expert are: Skilled, Trained, Adept, nowhere does it say infallible or all knowing.

I realized that I did have something to say. Just because I could have the thoughts I had nothing to teach people didn’t make it true.

None of my doubts were as important as the realization that what I had in my own life had helped me. It was based in good science, been experientially lived and shown to be effective.

There’s a reason you feel driven to do what you feel you must do.

It’s only a thought that stops you from starting.

What if you stopped trying to second guess an outcome and simply took action, could you make a difference if you simply shared what you knew.

Take action and see what happens, for us it was to put on our

Raw Food Barefoot Adventure weekend

If you are passionate about what you want to share, the results will always be a learning.

At first it may not go as you would have imagined.

Being that you are excited and passionate about your “thing”, you will get to understand it’s all part of a learning curve for what you were meant to do.

Part of my early development in understanding thoughts and beliefs was from  Gregory Neville  in his book “Effective Counseling” there I read material that had great impact on me.

Understanding that we are here to have an influence upon the lives of people who need to encounter us and we are  not individually the center of the universe.

By my decision to do, I am at the right place for my personal growth to occur, not by any willpower of mine, but just by acting within the factors that exist in the universe; we have not caused the events that we encounter in our life but rather these events are the result of other factors in the universe making sure that we encounter the situation we need to grow.

We are so very grateful to all participants of the weekend for your decision to attend.  Sonya’s meals were such a hit there is already another uncooking event on the calendar before our next planned event in June

” Ya gotta get Ya meat you vegan F##ktard “

I have observed and experienced the single mindedness of an observance to an Ideal, being as destructive as the original thought meme it was opposing.

As a loose observation of something I saw on the raw food thought leaders blog of Frederic Patenaude was the reference to when does observance to an idealism become a cult mentality.

He proposed that it’s a cult when Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished.

That is something you find online if you are not part of the party politics of a forum or group you get deleted. I understand that there are plenty of trolls on the internet that are just haters and dissenters.

It is good house keeping practice to nuke them, such as the hater that left the comment on my youtube channel.

Though I left the comment there,  as I am not “trying ” to change anyones mind or operate  with the its my way or the highway type of attitude.

Whenever you hear a raw food expert talk, you can get the feeling that it’s “Their way or the highway.” Everyone else is stupid, but they have the absolute truth.

If you don’t get the results, it’s because you didn’t follow their advice properly. There is no room for compromise or questioning, and anyone who does is kicked out of the group.

As for the questions that arise from the lack of understanding to the nature of nutrition and it sources. The Internet is a wonderful tool  in this day and age you can glean all sides to a story from the data banks and vast repositories of information that is available to us all.

The REM lifestyle design

As The REM Lifestyle suggests, there is more to a balanced life than just the diet and nutrition that goes into our body

This is the area of discernment that I would like my message to resonate with those who I get to influence in any form or manner.

You will not convince a person of something with only skilfull words,  you can only point in the direction of your truth with your words.

You then show commitment and integrity by being a truthful representation of your ideal through your actions.

You may become the lesson that person needed to see.

” Not enough protein in the vegan diet”

As for our angry friend and his assertion that we need meat,  one of the important areas that I do address for those encouraged to lead a plant fueled lifestyle is understanding the role of Vitamin B12.

You often hear that you can only get B12 From animals , if this were the case why is it that B12 deficiencies show up in non vegetarian/ vegan diets. It is a shortage that is found in meat eaters as well.

B12 is an important vitamin. BUT you don’t need to eat animals or their byproducts to get it.

It can be found in certain cereals, soy milk , tempeh, seaweed, and some yeasts.

Bacteria is actually responsible for making B12 and is found in things like dirt.

Where do you think the animals get it from? It’s from what THEY eat. And yes, if you are still concerned about getting your B12 then take the vitamin supplements.

I have used a Vitamin B 12 injection and I commit to to take a sublingual  B12 over a 1 month period per year. Last year I did not.

Results from my last blood tests show me as very good across the whole spectrum.

Another of the most oft asked questions is where do I get my protein.

The healthiest diet is the whole foods plant-based.

The major concern of carnivores is “not enough protein in the vegan diet”.

Major health problems in a western culture IS due to overconsumption of meat!

Every plant has protein in it, especially beans, nuts, grains, Spirulina(sea vegetables).

If you need to substitute your burger Pattie and snags for the soy derivatives,  you may have heard  that this is unsafe especially because they say it can affect hormones and my health drastically.

MDs check in with different soy recommendations (eg. Dr. Mercola vs. Dr. Oz) and some say soy should only be eaten if it is a fermented version.

Many people who are allergic to soy are actually allergic to the PROCESS of soy.

Soy sauce and tempeh are NOT processed the way tofu and soy burgers are.  There are many people who are allergic to soy but can handle tempeh.

I am a fully plant-based lifestyle eater and I use tempeh and tofu on occasion as a store-bought Item.

We will use coconut, almond, or rice milk and make lots of recipes with nuts like cashews and almonds for my protein, again in the understanding that nuts are a high fat source.

Your protein requirements can be found across eating a range of foods.

As you apply your change from where YOU are, you not try to fit somebody elses ideal of what you want to represent

I read a great quote from the Actor Woody Harrelson that summed up a few things for me on the justification people allow themselves for their choices to stray from a plant-based diet

“If you eat chicken, maybe you’re on one level. If you wear a mink coat, maybe you’re on another level. But if you wear cosmetics, cosmetics that are tested on animals, then you’re just unconscious. Really, my message is simple. It’s a message of compassion. In this world that is spinning madly out of control, we have to realize that we’re all related. We have to try to live harmoniously.”

I will leave you with those words, “It’s a message of compassion we have to try to live harmoniously ”

Organics or Natural

Our training and race reviews are a bit thin as we have not been very active at races of late, though Sonya gives her review of the version of Unshoe racing flats she is using now.

Ingredient of the week this week is Cashews a very versatile nut with lots of uses in the kitchen.

The topic we discuss this week is The distinction between Organics and natural.

The organics or Natural landscape can be a confusing place to understand.

With the vast number of symbols, certifications and labels it can be difficult to understand.

How do we as consumers really understand the similarities and differences between organics or Natural

What are the differences

Is there Similar qualities? how do you think about organics or Natural, as a consumer it will depend on the different levels of knowledge regarding organics or Natural .

The buying decision will be driven by different consumption patterns and should be made on factors ranging from price and comparability to authenticity and any environmental impact.

With a minimal involvement in the world of organics the distinctions between organics or natural can make the buying decision difficult and that is what part of the message here is about It does not have to be difficult to have a healthy lifestyle.

The most common confusion is the origin versus attributes, related to production and processing.

“Organic” is seen at to be what happens to food at origin (e.g., the farm, the plant, the animal), while“natural” can be described as to what happens (or doesn’t)in terms of production and processing after the farm gate.

Generally the use the term “organic” can relate to farming practices the simplest form organic means “grown without pesticides.”

Absence of pesticides, is the one large distinction, organic can also mean a variety of other things.

Raw food lifestyle

Organic is also understood to indicate an absence of herbicides, synthetic fertilizers, hormones and antibiotics as well as genetically modified foods. This is all connected with the growing process and are applied to whole foods (e.g., fruits, vegetables, grains, meat, etc.). These properties are strongly associated to mean organic than as to natural.

When you are looking to an ideal of natural that would mean that the food and beverages you buy are healthy, whole, real, and minimally processed. The term ” natural” can be understood to be what happens to the food after it is grown, by referring to the introduction or absence of processing steps.

The perception is “No artificial colors, flavors or preservatives” has more to do with natural than with organic distinction.

This again is the perception about the term natural being connected to production and processing.

While you can associate “natural” with an ideal of minimal processing, it does not mean that the word “natural” ensures that foods and beverages live up to the definition you may seek.

Natural means wanting less processed, natural products to be healthy. unfortunately there are many products out there labeled natural that are clearly not a healthy choice.

All products labeled natural, that are high in fat, sugar and/or sodium should be understood as being unnatural, regardless of the words on the package.

A Healthy choice should be a product with a short, recognizable ingredient list with nothing artificial, no preservatives, additives or fillers.

The closer you can get to having your food nutrition come from a place that has minimal additives and maximal impact for sustainable agriculture the better off we all will be.

I have behind production time again as the technical gremlins still plague me, though it is getting better.

If you have been following along for a while you will have seen how the blog design has changed.

This is not what I want to end up with, it is something I had to throw up to get the site to work, I will be working to get the design easier to navigate.
